How We Do It
We insert a colored marker in our flow meter and connect it to the vibrating hose at the discharge end of your mud pump. While you resume normal drilling, or circulate to condition the well bore before running casing, we perform our survey. Our highly accurate electronic totalizer gives us positive readings already converted into cubic feet.
The initial marker that is detected has been at the apex of the flow curve over the total annulus. It is necessary to correct for the area outside the flow curve over the total annulus. By using our correction factor charts, we can calculate with greater accuracy the actual volume required for your cementing purposes.
This is the secret to a fluid caliper.
Our correction factors were developed using the laws of fluid dynamics such as:
Reynolds Number |
Poiseuille’s Law |
